AI-generated content

Everything this API returns is made by AI. How outputs are labelled and what you must keep.

Every image, video, audio file and text you get from this API is generated by an AI model.

Labels in your files

Many models label what they make: a C2PA Content Credentials manifest that records the file was created by AI, other metadata, or a watermark in the pixels or sound. We hand you each file exactly as the model made it. The stored copies behind your result links are the same file, byte for byte, so these labels stay intact. To look at a file's C2PA manifest, you can use a viewer such as Content Credentials Verify. Not every model adds labels; where a model does, we never remove them.

Some models add no C2PA Content Credentials manifest to their outputs. PineRouter passes labels through unchanged and does not add any. If you publish such output, you may need to label it yourself (Article 50(4) for deepfakes).

What you must do

  • Keep the labels. Do not remove or alter watermarks, content credentials or other AI labels on outputs you publish or pass on.
  • The EU AI Act (Article 50, Commission FAQ) adds duties for those who publish AI content:
    • Deepfakes: if you publish AI-generated or edited images, audio or video that resemble real people, objects, places or events and would falsely appear authentic or truthful, you must disclose that the content was artificially generated or manipulated. For clearly artistic, creative, satirical or fictional work, the disclosure can be light, so long as it does not spoil the work.
    • Text: if you publish AI-generated text to inform the public on matters of public interest, you must disclose that it is AI-generated, unless a person has substantively reviewed it or exercised editorial control over it, and someone holds editorial responsibility for it. Spell checks, grammar fixes and other light edits do not count.
    • These duties come on top of the rule above: keep the labels in every case.
  • If you build an app or service on this API, your users get AI-generated content too: tell them, and keep the labels on what you deliver.
